Burrowes Memorial Hall Stradone

Burrowes Memorial Hall Stradone belongs to the Church of Ireland community of Laragh who use it as a recreation facility and for church functions.

Burrowes Memorial Hall was built on a site beside Stradone village donated by the Burrowes family of Stradone Estate 1938. The hall was built mostly by voluntary labour and by funds raised locally.

Following many successful years of dances, target practice, badminton and church events the hall eventually fell into disrepair.

In March 2000 the newly formed Church of Ireland Group conducted a household survey which revealed that a large percentage requested that the hall facilities should be upgraded The new group with the help of the North Cavan Community Development Initiative and the Communities in Transition Programme received funding to refurbish the hall to its present standard.

The hall was officially reopened in May 2004 by Mrs Patricia Burrowes a descendant of the Burrowes family from Stradone house.

The teens club meet in the hall on Saturday during the winter months where badminton, table tennis, darts, pool, bowls and volleyball are played.

Cookery classes are held in the hall at various times and an annual table quiz is held usually before Easter. The annual sale of work is held in November.

The hall is available for rent by contacting any member of the committee 0872667939.
